Distance Education

The Distance Education Programme is intended for individuals who want to enhance their professional careers with studies. Distance learning allows students to engage in Peace and Conflict studies regardless of time or location. We offer the knowledge and experience of UPEACE to as many interested participants as possible.

Through the online mode of delivery UPEACE offers:

1. Master of Arts in Sustainable Peace in the Contemporary World; and
2. Individual Online Courses related to the study of peace and conflict. Students can apply for individual courses for training or for credit. Those online courses taken for credit can be applied towards the completion of an online MA, upon acceptance in the online MA programme.

The online programmes carry the same academic weight as an in-class experience at the headquarters UPEACE campus in Costa Rica. The learning materials and mechanisms are meant to guide student-led efforts in learning.

UPEACE is well-known for its diverse student body and excellent classes. Our experience shows that our participants gain comprehensive knowledge from their peers, in addition to extending their personal and professional networks around the world.

Flexibility and Affordability
UPEACE distance learning allows you to live anywhere in the world but still engage in accredited formal education. Distance learning is student-centered; participants decide the pace and timing of their work, as well as the time and place of their examination(s). Students balance their personal and professional obligations while gaining pertinent knowledge in a growing field of study.

The courses are open to anyone interested in the field of peace and conflict studies. Applicants do not need to be pursuing a degree - or a career change. The essential requirement is a true commitment to learning.
