UPEACE Diplomats in Residence Programme

The University for Peace (UPEACE), recognizing the essential role of diplomats in the pursuit of peace, is offering a flexible program for diplomats between assignments who wish to spend a period of time in residence at the UPEACE campus in Costa Rica.

Programme Description:

The "UPEACE Diplomats in Residence Programme" aims at providing diplomats an enriching experience by actively participating in an intellectual setting, either by attending interesting classes that have to do with their work or by contributing with their experience in many different ways.

Methodology:

Diplomats in Residence assigned by their Foreign Ministries to the UPEACE programme can come to the University during the academic year that runs from mid August to mid May, to undertake selected courses relevant to their area of expertise. Diplomats in Residence will be asked to give lectures and present case studies to the regular UPEACE students. The participants may also undertake research projects while participating in the programme.

Diplomats in Residence will be under the supervision of a resident senior diplomat during their period at UPEACE. This will allow them to attain their objectives and expectations. Each participant will have their programme tailor-made according to their interests, time assigned to the programmes, and general objectives.

Sponsoring Foreign Ministries will be expected to cover the expenses of the Diplomats in Residence, including the cost of tuition, travel, room and board, and regular salary during their period at UPEACE.

Diplomats can come for our full year Master's degree (MA) program, or they can take any portion of that program, or even just one specific course.  Their presence would be an asset for us, and we believe they will benefit highly from their experience at UPEACE.
