This UPEACE INSTITUTE consists of short courses covering topics in different areas such as environment, peace, conflict, entrepreneurship, terrorism, development, film, violence, and food security, among others. All of the courses are facilitated by international professionals with extensive expertise in each of these areas. Courses are offered in three-week, two-week, and one-week blocks.

Taking advantage of the beautiful January weather in Costa Rica, this initiative allows students to experience life in a country that opted not to have an army, and has a remarkable environmental record.

The UPEACE INSTITUTE challenges UPEACE students and professionals, practitioners, academicians and students of peace and conflict, to engage with each other in interactive participatory classes and informal gatherings which bring several cultures and views together.

The UPEACE INSTITUTE is offered twice a year, in January and June, for graduate credit, and training purposes.
