Speaker: Prof. Hyo-Je Cho Professor of sociology at SungKongHoe University, Seoul, South Korea.

 

Dr. Hyo-Je CHO is professor of sociology at SungKongHoe University, Seoul, South Korea. He is currently visiting professor of Korean studies at Universidad de Costa Rica. He has written extensively on human rights and civil society. Among his edited works and monographs are Contemporary South Korean Society (2013, Routledge); In Search of Human Rights (2011, Hanul); A Grammar of Human Rights (2007, Humanitas).

He was closely involved in the establishment of the National Human Rights Institution of Korea and is a member of Seoul City Human Rights Commission. Dr. Cho studied politics and sociology at London University, Oxford University and London School of Economics (LSE). His former visiting appointments include Human Rights Fellow at Harvard Law School and DAAD-STAR Professor at Free University Berlin.
