Climate Change: Disaster or Opportunity? Sat 17th April 2010

This event is open to all those interested in climate change and its effects on human populations. We will be asking the question: While climate change will undoubtedly have negative impacts, does it also hold the potential for new social, economic and political opportunities? This one-day conference will include a variety of lectures, panel discussions and workshops on the theme of climate change and related policy - from the grassroots to the global stage. It will feature cutting edge work in climate related research and policy, with a focus on interdisciplinary perspectives, and will be of interest to students, policymakers, academics and members of business and the NGO community.

Keynote Addresses:
Dr Alvaro Umaña (Costa Rica), Head of the Costa Rican Delegation at the Copenhagen Climate Change Conference and Dr Pedro Leon Azofeifa (Costa Rica), Director of the ‘Paz con la Naturaleza’ Initiative and Costa Rica’s leading scientist

TICKETS


Postal ticket booking has now closed. Limited tickets are however still available:

1) By hand, from Ms Sofia Montero, in the Department of Environment, Peace and Security at UPEACE.
2) On the day, at registration. A limited number of tickets are available on the day. All those individuals who have not reserved a place must email smontero@upeace.org by midday Wed 14th April. People who do not register beforehand may be refused entrance.

Ticket price is $12.00 for all participants. We are operating a minimal paper ticket system – this means that all you have to do is register using the two methods above, and turn up on the day. Ticket price includes:

•     All conference activities listed in the programme
•     Local and organic lunch, and all other refreshments during the day, including a complimentary glass of wine at our Reception
•     Transport to and from Ciudad Colon
•     Conference certificate
