The University for Peace signs an agreement with Leiden University College, The Hague (LUC).

UPEACE is proud to announce the signing of an agreement between Leiden University (through its international honours college Leiden University College The Hague (LUC)), and the Alliance for UPEACE. This agreement will enable each party to develop new collaborative teaching and research capacities in the area of Peace & Conflict Studies.

Chris Goto-Jone, the Dean of LUC The Hague, John J. Maresca, the Rector of the UN-mandated University for Peace (UPEACE), and Marius Enthoven, Chairman of the UPEACE Alliance signed a Memorandum of Understanding that allows for the joint development of educational programmes. In the first instance, the agreement enables LUC to offer a new track in Peace & Conflict Studies in its BA programme, in cooperation with the new UPEACE Centre in The Hague, based in the Peace Palace.

In the future, the Rodrigo Carazo Campus in Costa Rica and LUC The Hague will also work towards the development of collaborative programmes at the graduate level.

Leiden University College The Hague, is situated in the world’s capital of peace and justice and provides a unique combination of world-class scholarly depth, drawn from the oldest university in The Netherlands, together with Oxford, Cambridge, Heidelberg and others, it is one of the ten founding members of the League of European Research Universities.
