The main objective of the UPEACE Asia and the Pacific Programme is to strengthen the capacities of interested and committed institutions to undertake high-quality teaching, training and research in the crucial areas related to peace and conflict; emphasis will also be placed on identifying and expanding the effectiveness of alternative and non-formal channels through which education for peace may reach the general populace.

This objective is achieved through the strengthening the leadership of education for peace; catalyzing and/or strengthening academic programmes or courses; developing and/or strengthening professional training programmes; strengthening peace education and action research to underpin education for peace.
