WORLDWIDE ACTIVITIES

The UPEACE Central Asian Program engages in activities using four inter-related tracks: 

ACADEMIC: To transfer teaching capacities to Central Asia through peace-related education and research. The CAP M.A. courses train university professors, senior graduate students and experts to teach Peace and Conflict Prevention Studies in the universities of Central Asia.

TRAINING CIVIL SOCIETY: To develop regionally relevant approaches to the direct training of diverse local and cross-border civil society leaders through pilot training programs taught by and developed together with Central Asian trainee teachers aimed at meeting immediate needs for peace-building and conflict prevention.

RESEARCH: To engage Central Asians and international experts in collaborative research on the key problems threatening peace and stability in the region, and to develop teaching and training materials tailored to the needs of the Central Asian region.

DIALOGUE: To develop a Regional Forum for engaging in policy-relevant discussions of key issues on conflict prevention among officials, academics and security experts from all five Central Asian countries, together with international officials and experts on the region.
