Dealing with the Changing Nature of Conflict

Source: Marcus Prior / World Food Programme The University for Peace (UPEACE) is pleased to announce its upcoming 6th Model United Nations Conference, which will be held from January 31st to February 2nd, 2008 at the UPEACE campus in Ciudad Colon, Costa Rica.

The University for Peace seeks to once again join students in an interactive multicultural forum in order to discuss pressing issues of our time. The Model United Nations system allows participants to develop the skills that present day leaders posses, such as negotiation, global networking and communication skills. With a history of wide participation from the UPEACE student body and visiting universities from around the world, UPMUNC has become a multicultural setting that represents an increasingly accurate representation of the world.

This year, the Conference will tackle a number of issues relating to the nature of conflicts in today’s world. Henceforth, through a multicultural simulation of the United Nations system, this conference will be divided into three main committees: Security Council, Human Rights Council, and Peacebuilding Commission.
