Founded in 1669, the University of Innsbruck is a public university located in the capital of the Austrian federal state of Tyrol. It is currently the largest educational facility in the Austrian Bundesland of Tirol, the third largest in Austria behind Vienna University and the University of Graz and, according to The Times Higher Education Supplement World Ranking 2010, Austria's leading university. Significant contributions have been made in many areas, most of all in the physics department. Further, concerning the number of Web of Science-listed publications, it occupies third place worldwide in the area of mountain research. UPEACE and Innsbruck University signed a cooperation agreement in 2008, providing UPEACE students the possibility of obtaining a dual degree: Innsbruck will grant them an M.A. in Peace, Development, Security and International Conflict Transformation and UPEACE will grant them an M.A. in one of the following programmes of their choice:

  • M.A. in International Peace Studies
  • M.A. in Gender and Peacebuilding
  • M.A. in International Law and Human Rights
  • M.A. in International Law and the Settlement of Disputes
  • M.A. in Responsible Management and Sustainable Development
