UPEACE and UNFPA Host International Seminar on Access to Justice for Afro-descendants in Latin America and the Caribbean

This week, the University for Peace (UPEACE) has played host to the International Seminar “Towards transformative change for Racial Justice and Equality: Promotion and protection of the fundamental human rights and freedoms of people of African descent in Latin America and the Caribbean,” organized jointly by UPEACE and the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA).

The University for Peace participated in the Stockholm+50 4th Plenary Meeting

Today, UPEACE Dean, Dr. Juan Carlos Sainz-Borgo, participated in the Stockholm+50 4th Plenary Meeting and delivered the following message to participants. During his speech, he highlighted the work of the University for Peace in the field of Environmental Protection, Security and Peace and offered the services of UPEACE to help generate environmental education on a global scale.

Presentación Final del Certificado “Libertad de Expresión, Protección de Periodistas y Construcción de Paz” 

La Universidad para la Paz impartió el certificado “Libertad de Expresión, Protección de Periodistas y Construcción de Paz” a 35 estudiantes, entre los 18 y 25 años, de la carrera de Ciencias de la Comunicación de tres universidades de El Salvador: Universidad Francisco Gavidia, Universidad Autónoma de Santa Ana y Universidad Don Bosco.

UPEACE Doctoral Candidate Hassan Sheikh Mohamud Wins Somalia’s Presidential Election

Somalia’s new President, Hassan Sheikh Mohamud, was declared winner of the Presidential election on Sunday 16 May 2022 to become the country’s new president. President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud is currently a UPEACE doctoral candidate in Peace, Governance and Development at the UPEACE Somalia Programme.

Distinguished World Leaders Meet in Malaga To Send a Message of Peace and Dialogue to the World

In preparation of the “High Level Conference on Human Rights, Civil Society and the Fight Against Terrorism,” the City Council of Malaga organized an expert meeting focused on Plan of Action on intercultural and interfaith engagement as a catalyst to prevent conflicts and promote peace.
