Commemoration of the First “International Day of Human Fraternity”

On 21 December 2020, under the leadership of the United Arab Emirates, the UNGA adopted Resolution 75/200, by which it “decided to proclaim 4 February as the International Day of Human Fraternity” and “invited all Member States to further promote the culture of peace to help ensure peace and sustainable development”. The resolution represents a global response based on international solidarity to overcome divisions.

UPEACE Celebrates the Graduation of the 14th Cohort of its APS Programme

On 17 December 2020, due to the current pandemic context, the UPEACE Asian Peacebuilders Scholarship Programme (APS) held its first-ever virtual commencement ceremony for its 14th Cohort, broadcast from our partner university, Ateneo de Manila University (AdMU). The virtual event focused on celebrating the arduous effort of the twenty-six students representing eight Southeast Asian countries.



UPEACE Welcomes Two Distinguished New Members to its Council

On 7 December 7 2020, during its 31st Session, the Council of the University for Peace officially welcomed its two newest members, Ms. Gariela Ramos - UNESCO Assistant Director-General for Social and Human Sciences - and Mr. Carlos Alvarado Quesada - President of Costa Rica.



UPEACE and the Muslim World League Publish Book on Interreligious Dialogue

In the context of the UN 100 Years of Multilateralism, the commemoration of the 75 Years of the United Nations, and the 40th Anniversary of the University for Peace, the Muslim World League and the UN University for Peace launched a research proposal, “Promoting peace, human rights and dialogue among civilizations,” which has culminated in the publication of a book by the same name.
