San Jose, Costa Rica - The inaugural ceremony of this diploma programme was also attended by the President of the Supreme Court of Justice, Mrs. Zarela Villanueva, the President of the Inter-American Court of Human Rights, Mr. Humberto Antonio Sierra Porto, and the Director of the Heidelberg Center for Latin America, Mr. Walter Eckel. Representing UPEACE was Dr. Juan Carlos Sainz-Borgo.
UPEACE, together with the University of Heidelberg and the Max Plank Institute of Comparative Public Law and International Law, developed this three month programme in San José, Costa Rica, divided in 15 modules.
This diploma programme, coordinated by Professor Dr. Pía Carazo, brings together professionals in Costa Rican law and is supported by the Supreme Court of Justice of Costa Rica, the Judicial School, the Costa Rican Judiciary Association, the Lawyers‘ School, the Konrad Adenauer Foundation, the Inter-American Court of Human Rights and the Inter-American Institute of Human Rights.
The group of professors who will teach the courses come from prestigious European, North American and Latin American academic institutions, with representatives from both national and international organizations, such as the Inter-American Court of Human Rights, the Inter-American Institute of Human Rights entities and the Supreme Court of Justice of Costa Rica.
This high level formative course will run from the end of August to the beginning of December of this year. (See video)
