Rector de UPAZ participa en inauguración de ‘Gernika’ en ONU Ginebra
24 de febrero 2020. Ginebra, Suiza – El Rector de la Universidad para la Paz (UPAZ), Dr. Francisco Rojas Aravena, participó hoy en la inauguración de la exposición ‘Gernika’ de la artista española Sofía Gandarias. El evento tuvo lugar en la sede de las Naciones Unidas en Ginebra, Suiza.
En el acto inaugural participaron la ministra de Asuntos Exteriores de España, Dra. Arancha González Laya, la Dra. Tatiana Valovaya, directora general de Oficina de las Naciones Unidas en Ginebra y el Dr. Walter Stevens, de la Delegación Permanente de la Unión Europea ante la Oficina de las Naciones Unidas. Por parte de la Universidad para la Paz también estuvieron presentes S.E. Enrique Barón, Canciller del Consejo de la UPAZ y ex Presidente del Parlamento Europeo, y S.E. David Fernández Puyana, representante de UPAZ ante la Oficina de las Naciones Unidas en Ginebra.
Dentro del proyecto ‘Arte en Escena’ e impulsado por el Legado Gandarias, ‘Gernika’ de Sofía Gandarias, continúa su trayectoria por Europa, luego de haber estado expuesta en 2019 en Asís, en Palazo D’Avalos, en Vasto, en la Cripta de la Catedral de Fermo, y en Roma, en la Iglesia de Santa María de Montserrat de los Españoles. En el 2018, la obra estuvo expuesta en la Abadía Benedictina de Santo Domingo de Silos y en la Cripta de la Basílica de San Miniato al Monte (Florencia).
La exhibición estará disponible hasta el viernes 6 de marzo.
UPEACE Rector participates in inauguration of ‘Gernika’ at UN Geneva
24 February, 2020. Geneva, Switzerland - The Rector of the University for Peace (UPEACE), Dr. Francisco Rojas Aravena, participated today in the opening of the exhibition 'Gernika' by Spanish artist Sofía Gandarias. The event took place at the United Nations headquarters in Geneva, Switzerland.
Present at the ceremony were the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Spain, Dr. Arancha González Laya, Dr. Tatiana Valovaya, Director General of the United Nations Office in Geneva and Dr. Walter Stevens, from the Permanent Delegation of the European Union before the United Nations Office. Other representatives of the University for Peace present at the inauguration were H.E. Enrique Barón, UPEACE Chancellor and former President of the European Parliament, and H.E. David Fernández Puyana, UPEACE representative to the United Nations Office in Geneva.
Within the project 'Art on Stage' promoted by the Gandarias Legacy, 'Gernika' by Sofía Gandarias, continues its journey through Europe, after having been exposed in 2019 in Assisi, at the Palazo D'Avalos, in Vasto, at the Crypt in the Fermo Cathedral, and in Rome, at the Church of Santa María de Montserrat of the Spanish. In 2018, the works were exhibited at the Benedictine Abbey of Santo Domingo de Silos and in the Crypt of the Basilica of San Miniato al Monte in Florence.
The exhibition will be available through Friday, 6 March.
