University for Peace attends the Second Core Partners Meeting for Disarmament Affairs (UNODA)

23-25 November 2015, Vienna, Geneva - The University for Peace attended the Second Core Partners Meeting, organized by the United Nations Office for Disarmament Affairs (UNODA) in relation to the joint project "Boosting the Advance of Women on Peace-related Issues: Strengthening Tools for Women’s Education."

The meeting, organized in Vienna, served as a coordination and outreach meeting with the two main partners UNODA and the Vienna Center for Disarmament and Non-Proliferation (VCDNP). Dr. Juan Carlos Sainz Borgo was invited as co-host of the Women Higher Education for Peace Vienna Forum an activity part of the project and organize by UNODA which will take place this year on 05-06 July.

A luncheon hosted by Ambassador Mr. Friedrich Dauble, PR of the Federal Republic of Germany to the International Organizations in Vienna was organized on 23 November, to discuss disarmament and non- proliferation education in the global south.

Finally, the goal of providing scholarships and training to 140 women on disarmament and non-proliferation activities with a clear focus in peace and conflict was reiterated; and UPEACE will continue its role of implementation of the trainings in Middle East, Asia, Latin America and Africa. This project has a duration of 3 years ending in 2017 and is finance by the Government of Germany.
