24 April 2018.UN Headquarters, New York - On 24 April, the University for Peace (UPEACE) and the United Nations Institute for Training and Research (UNITAR) signed an MoU to create academic programmes of mutual interest. Furthermore, both institutions will promote the exchange of qualified students, promote the exchange of faculty for joint research and teaching and promote academic areas of mutual interest.
The United Nations Institute for Training and Research (UNITAR) is an autonomous body within the United Nations that was established in 1965 pursuant to a United Nations General Assembly resolution and is governed by a Board of Trustees, with the mission to develop capacities to enhance global decision-making and to support country-level action for shaping a better future.
The University for Peace celebrates this opportunity to reaffirm its commitment to the work of the United Nations and its involvement with other UN and UN-affiliated institutions. The MoU was signed by UPEACE Rector Francisco Rojas and Nikhil Seth, Assistant Secretary-General of the United Nations and Executive Director, UNITAR, and witnessed by UPEACE Representative to the UN in New York, Narinder Kakar.

Naciones Unidas, Nueva York - El 24 de abril, la Universidad para la Paz (UPAZ) y el Instituto de las Naciones Unidas para la Formación y la Investigación (UNITAR) firmaron un memorando de entendimiento para crear programas académicos de interés mutuo. Además, ambas instituciones promoverán el intercambio de estudiantes calificados, fomentarán el intercambio de profesores para la investigación conjunta y la docencia y promoverán áreas académicas de interés mutuo.
El Instituto de las Naciones Unidas para la Formación y la investigación (UNITAR) es un organismo autónomo dentro de las Naciones Unidas que se estableció en 1965, de conformidad con una resolución de la Asamblea General de las Naciones Unidas. Está regido por una Junta Directiva, con la misión de desarrollar capacidades para mejorar la toma de decisiones a nivel mundial y apoyar las acciones de los Estados para dar forma a un futuro mejor.
La Universidad para la Paz celebra esta oportunidad de reafirmar su compromiso con la labor de las Naciones Unidas y su relacionamiento con otros órganos e instituciones afiliadas de la ONU. El memorando fue firmado por el Rector de la UPAZ, Francisco Rojas Aravena y el Sr. Nikhil Seth, Secretario General Adjunto de las Naciones Unidas y Director Ejecutivo de UNITAR, con la presencia del representante de la UPAZ ante la ONU en Nueva York, Narinder Kakar.
